Summer Fun Preschool Play mornings are back up and going again after the Christmas break and will continue until the end of March. Play sessions are on every Tuesday at Windsor Reserve, Devonport (now back in the main part of Windsor Reserve) and Thursdays at Bayswater Park – weather depending. Both sessions run from 9:30am to 11am and are a great way to get out and about with little ones, having fun and making new friends. Follow our Facebook page to keep up to date with our events.
Starting up on Tuesday 18 February is our Kids Athletics Series, held at Vauxhall Sports Reserve a.k.a. the North Shore Rugby Club grounds. Kids Athletics is a 6 week programme, running on consecutive Tuesdays, 4pm-6pm, until 24 March. Primary school aged kids can have-a-go at a variety of athletics activities in a non-competitive environment. Free registration takes place each session. The JETS Run programme is currently running every Wednesday starting 6pm from Torpedo Bay Navy Museum – register from 5:45pm. Following Devonport’s waterfront, course lengths vary and costs are $6 adult, $5 child. Participants get the chance to win both spot and place getter prizes. Our free Summer Fun Preschool Play mornings in Windsor Reserve, Devonport and Bayswater Park, Bayswater start up this month on Tuesday 5th and Thursday 7th respectively. The sessions are held from 9:30am-11am and are a great way for little ones (and their caregivers!) to be active, meet new people and make friends. Caregiver supervision is required and attendance is casual. As sessions are weather dependent, follow us on Facebook to keep up to date with any changes.
We have a big day of school fairs on Saturday 9 November! First up is the St Leo’s School fair from 11am-2pm. You will be able to enjoy yummy food and treats, fun activities for the kids, white elephant stall, bargain books, toys, plants, preserves, crafts and pre-loved clothing. They also have some fantastic prizes up for grabs with their fair raffles. Then from 3pm to 8pm, the Hauraki School Twilight Fair takes place. Enjoy live music, kids activities and more.

Takapuna Grammar School PTA invite you to join them on Saturday 7 September for the ever-popular annual Comedy Night in the School Hall, starring Paul Ego, Lana Walters and Brendhan Lovegrove.
Tickets are $30 each or $200 for a table of eight and can be purchased via the school website: takapuna.school.nz. This is a great night of entertainment and a highlight of the PTA's fundraising efforts for the school community. Bring a plate of nibbles to share with your table and cash/card for the bar. Please note it's an R18 event. Doors open 7:30pm.
The good times continue on Saturday 14 September with Narrow Neck Playcentre’s Annual Quiz night; 7pm-9pm at Holy Trinity Church Hall, Church St, Devonport – all are welcome. Everyone is welcome to the next Devonport Community Network meeting on Thursday 8 August, 10:00am-12:00pm at the Devonport Yacht Club, 25 King Edward Pde in Devonport. This quarterly meeting is about promoting networking among residents and local community groups. The session commences with morning tea and a chance to network informally then we will hear from guest speakers including Glenda Peri, the new Devonport Community Police Constable. The July School holidays are upon us but there’s plenty of activities on offer to keep the kids (and grown-ups!) entertained.
Nau mai haere mai koutou, let’s celebrate Matariki with a Community Haka at Windsor Reserve, Devonport, on Sunday 7 July at 11am. Everybody is welcome and locals in the community will be on site, ready to support. The Haka will be followed by refreshments, music and a haka contest for tamariki (with prizes to be won) in Devonport Library. This event is supported by RNZN Marae, Devonport Library and Devonport-Takapuna Local Board.
